Bak kut teh

Roti prata and teh tarik
Roti prata is a crispy, crusty South Indian pancake, made with or without eggs, and served with a bowl of thick curry gravy. Teh tarik ('tarik' is a Malay word for 'pull') is tea mixed with both evaporated and sweet condensed milk, 'pulled' from one mug to another to create a perfect blend of tea and milk with a wonderful light creamy froth.

Rojak
A local salad comprising fruits and vegetables such as cucumbers, bean sprouts, pineapple, turnip, fried dough fritters, dried bean curd, sometimes even mango and cuttlefish. The mixture is tossed and stirred in a prawn paste, and topped off with peanuts.

Fish head curry
A huge fish head and vegetables, cooked in curry and served with rice. Have a glass of 'calamansi' (local lime juice) to go with it.

Broad white noodles fried with dark sweet sauce, bean sprouts, fish cake, cockles and Chinese sausage

Fried carrot cake
Rice flour and 'white carrot' (radish) quick-fried with soy sauce, eggs, garlic and chai poh (pickled radish). You can choose to have it sweet by adding sweet black soy sauce (the 'black' version) or savoury by omitting the sauce (the 'white' version)
